Meet Chardae: Third Place National Challenge Winner

Kickhouse Kickboxing National Winner

In January, KickHouse hosted the 8-week Kick 2020 Goodbye Challenge. This Challenge pushed members to embrace the uncomfortable and unleash their inner resilience. With great success across the country, six winners were chosen overall based on their physical and mental transformations. The winners not only took home cash prizes but confidence in themselves that they can kick it up a level. KickHouse had the chance to ask these winners a series of questions about their experience with the KickHouse Challenge. Chardae Rigdon from KickHouse Creve Coeur, our third place national challenge winner in the women’s category, took home $3,000!

Meet Chardae and read about her takeaways from the KickHouse Challenge:

1. The COVID-19 pandemic and the corresponding shut-downs were difficult for many. What additional obstacles did you face in 2020?

“Covid definitely disrupted my routine. Suddenly I had two toddlers at home with me all day, plus I was in the middle of a  move and it was nearly impossible to pack and move with no childcare. Working from home also proved to be a challenge while trying to take care of the children at home.”

2.  What inspired you to join KickHouse and what made you join the Challenge?

“I saw a KickHouse post on Instagram that caught my attention. I knew I needed a full-body workout but I was also looking for something with a supporting meal plan in addition to just workouts.”

3.  How was your experience during the 8-week Challenge? Highs and lows?

“There were definitely highs and lows throughout the Challenge. For lows, the first two weeks I struggled to understand the macros. Around week 6 I thought I was ready to quit. I was overwhelmed and mentally over it. I had one cheat meal on my anniversary and it made it tough to get back on track after that. However, the highs outweighed those. I made great decisions on meals, meeting my macros portions almost every day. Each weigh-in and check-in was a success and pushed me to keep going. I even saved money throughout the challenge by eating at home more.”

4.  How do you feel kickboxing has impacted your health?

“It made me stronger physically and mentally! I learned I could do two workouts back to back and now I feel like I can do anything. I also learned true pacing and technique which has helped me tone instead of just burning calories. Additionally, I learned what slow build means, and now I have a fight family!”

5.  What are your current goals?

“I’d like to drop at least 4% more body fat and build at least 4 more lbs of muscle. I also want to count macros through July.”

6.  What would you say to anyone who was thinking about joining KickHouse and/or the Challenge?

“It’s a game-changer that will change how you view health, fitness, and food. You will accomplish more than you have ever done in any other challenge.”
