In February, KickHouse hosted the 8-week Captain KickHouse Challenge. This Challenge pushed members to embrace the uncomfortable and unleash their inner resilience. With great success across the country, six winners were chosen overall based on their physical and mental transformations. KickHouse had the chance to ask these winners a series of questions about their experience with the KickHouse Challenge. Meet Mike Zirkle from KickHouse Winchester, our men’s third place national challenge winner.
Meet Mike and read about his takeaways from the KickHouse Challenge:
1. What inspired you to join KickHouse and what made you join the Challenge?
“I joined KickHouse after my sister and nephews did and loved it. I just immediately loved how I felt after class. I joined the last 8 Week Challenge and loved the competitive element and how much confidence I gained through the process. So I decided to do the Captain KickHouse challenge to continue to lose weight, get stronger and build my confidence and I’m so glad I did.”
2. What does “Captain KickHouse” mean to you?
“Captain KickHouse means someone who is strong and determined and willing to fight to better themself and challenge their own limits.”
3. How was your experience during the 8-week Challenge? Highs and lows?
“I love the feeling of being involved in the 8-Week Challenges. It makes me feel strong and confident and every day I wake up feeling better about myself because I’m on this journey to be healthier. I had a few hard days that I really wanted to eat food that I knew I should avoid and days when I didn’t feel like working out the way I needed to. Overall though, you push through the rough days and make the experience a success. I feel great.”
4. How do you feel kickboxing has impacted your health?
“Kickboxing has been a game changer for me. I had gained weight and lost confidence and it has really helped get me back on track and feel better about myself. I love bringing family and friends with me to class so they can try it out and experience how great it is.”
5. What are your current goals?
“My current goals are to continue to lose weight and build confidence.”
6. What would you say to anyone who was thinking about joining KickHouse and/or the Challenge?
“I would say to take that leap and do it and I promise you won’t regret it. It’s a family and they are encouraging and helpful and share in your accomplishments. I’m very glad that I did.”
