How Kickboxing Reduces Stress

Kickboxing is very beneficial to our physical and mental wellbeing. Physically, kickboxing is a full-body workout, it’s versatile, plus it supports post-class calorie burn due to the high elevated heart rate during class. But kickboxing also provides mental benefits such as it serves as a healthy outlet, it supports mental toughness, and provides community. Kickboxing can improve one’s mental health though raising confidence, conquering fears, and relieving stress.

In honor of April being stress awareness month, we asked KickHouse members across the country to share their experiences with how kickboxing reduces stress.

“KickHouse helps me reduce my stress daily. As a mother of two teenagers and a Kindergarten teacher my day can be pretty hectic!! 

I love knowing that after a busy day in the classroom or a busy day running my kids to their sports practices and games that I have my KickHouse fitfam to turn to. I don’t just go to kick and punch the bag (even though this is key) I also go to talk with fellow members or instructors about my day. It’s always nice when the instructors and members ask how your day went, how your weekend went, or how your kids’ sports games turned out. 

I have people to turn to that listen and care, which is a huge relief. I also know that I can leave everything bothering me at the door and have time for “me” and be in a judgment free zone. 

The stress relief isn’t only physical it also a mental thanks to my amazing fitfam at Chantilly! I always feel amazing after class now matter how I went in feeling!”

“I started KickHouse in November of 2020…fresh off of a disgusting divorce that entailed my ex best friend and ex husband, I needed an outlet. COVID didn’t help much. I started KickHouse because I needed to find my happiness again. At first it was for a “revenge” body, but that didn’t pan out. 

I started to meet wonderful people, staff and members. Took on the 8-week Challenge three different times. Not sure my mindset was in the right place during the first two challenges.

I can say, during every workout, I would release so many emotions. Sometimes sadness, anger, resentment, tears, and laughs. All the stress that I happily left on the mat! 

My mind is healthier! That’s what I needed first. Now I can focus on my habits and my body. I have been able to find my laugh and smile again. I’m doing this for me, I deserve to have the best version of me.

I’m blessed I have a place that I can release so much and never be judged. Freakin love me some KICKHOUSE!!!!!”

When I go to the studio to put in work, I don’t have to worry or think about anything else but my form and how much I can sweat! The support and energy from our instructors and my fellow members creates a safe space for me to work on being the “BEST” version of myself possible, for me to lean into the human I have always wanted to be – driven, focused, strong, energetic, fast, and influential!

Self actualization is happening every time I show up for myself and work hard which is easy to do because all the other members are doing the same thing around me!

“Working out and exercising was never something that I stuck to before I joined KickHouse. I love being able to come in and literally punch all of my problems away. The workout itself obviously reduces stress because I’m doing good for my body. However I didn’t expect the family like environment of Kickhouse and that alone is such a breath of fresh air.
